Almost people ignored these concerns after the installation!

Jun. 02, 2023

Smart lock, as an electronic technology product, the installation plays a key role in the following use and maintenance. After the installation, self-inspect the functions is more important than activating the smart lock and modifying the master PIN code. What are the specific aspects of the self-inspection? Let me show you in detail.

01 Check the appearance of the escutcheons

After finishing the installation, we should check the condition of the front and rear escutcheons, the mortise plate, and the strike. The escutcheons should not offset and tilt while matching the door frame. The mortise plate and the strike should not be loose or deform.

02 Check the indoor unlock functions

Close the door to keep the door in the locking status, then check the indoor unlock functions. For example, double-click the OPEN button to unlock, hold both sides of the handle to induction unlock, rotate the emergency rotary knob to unlock, etc.

If unlocked smoothly, there is no problem with the installation; if there are unlocking jams, repeated operations can not be unlocked, open the door after the alarm, etc., it is an abnormal state.

03 Check the outdoor unlock functions

Close the door to keep the door in the locking status, and check the outdoor unlock functions. For example, fingerprint, PIN code, key tag, and mechanical key, etc.

If you can unlock normally, there is no problem with the installation; if there is a verification failure, unable to unlock after verification successful, abnormal alarm(Except the system alarm), unable to unlock by the key, etc., that is the abnormal state.

04 Check the locking functions

Except for the lever lock, many types of Philips EasyKey support auto-locking after closing the door. If there is abnormal locking, door shaking, or the full-auto smart lock opening the door without any verification, etc., that is the abnormal state.

05 Check the networking functions

Networked Philips Easykey also needs to be checked whether the networking functions, such as network binding state, remote viewing function, temporary PIN code function, viewing unlock records, etc. can be used normally.

Getting the above 5 self-checking points is the precondition for protecting the smart lock usage experience.

However, during the daily use of the smart lock, some abnormal statuses must confuse us. We might suspect a quality problem. That is not the case, most abnormal alarm is the protection for our home safety, how to explain it?

"The system is locked"

What if the fingerprint is unable to recognize under the system locking?

Philips EasyKey equips the system locking alarm. Just like continuously entering the wrong password on the mobile phone will lead to screen locking. Consecutive mistake entry of fingerprint, PIN code, key tag, etc. more than 5 times within 5 minutes, the trial and error alarm of the smart lock will be triggered. The voice prompt will remind "the system is locked" and the system will be locked up. After 3 minutes, the alarm could be turned off automatically. This trial and error alarm is to prevent thieves from trying to decipher fingerprints or cracked the PIN code.

“ The door is unlocked”

I thought that when I close the door, it will automatically lock. Why does the lock still prompt " The door was unlocked"?

Generally, Philips EasyKey equips the full-auto mortise and pops up the latch bolt to finish the locking when the door is closed. Once locking up failed, the abnormal latch bolt alert will be triggered. The voice prompt will sound like The door is unlocked to remind locking up the door. Let you no more worry about locking the door.

No response to the door lock

No response from the panel, no voice prompt or indicator when recognizing the fingerprint, or other no-responding situations, they mostly caused by power-off or system crash. If the door locks out of power, use a power bank for emergency charging and replace the battery in a timely are supported. Restart the smart lock when the system is crashed. Many types of Philips Easykey reused the restart button and the emergency power interface, once you connect a power bank, the smart lock can be restarted.

As the guardian of our home safety, Philips EasyKey equips an all-around smart alarm system. Multiple useful functions protect your home safety from day to night.
