Question
What does the smart lock in the free state mean?
Answer
The free handle, also known as the safety handle, is suitable for the smart level door lock. When there is no unlocking verification, the handle is in the free state. Then, you could press down and turn the handle but the door wouldn’t be opened. Only fingerprint, PIN code and other unlocking methods could the motor drive the clutch to press the handle and unlock. So, the free state is good to protect the smart lock. One is to prevent some people with ulterior motives from forcibly pressing down the door and destroying the lock’s internal parts to unlock. The second is to prolong the useful lifespan of the lock. If the handle is forcibly pressed down for a long time, it would damage the internal parts of the lock as well.
Question
What should you do if the smart lock system is locked?
Answer
Many people are panicked when their smart lock is locked by the system. Because of the multiple verification failure cases caused by carelessness, the voice prompt would inform “the system is locked” which makes you think that the smart lock doesn’t work. Actually, it would restore to normal in 3 to 5 minutes. This is the system lock alert function of the Philips smart lock which is to prevent people with ulterior motives from trying to unlock the lock by breaking the fingerprint or PIN code. For example, the smart lock system would be locked for 3 minutes if the fingerprint, PIN code and key tag are entered incorrectly for 5 consecutive times. Then, neither fingerprint nor PIN code couldn’t be entered at this time. This is smart protection of smart locks for home security.
